Search & keyboard shortcuts
Last updated 15 August 2026
When your hands are already on the keyboard, you shouldn't have to reach for the mouse to find something. ArtistHQ has a handful of shortcuts that get you anywhere — and let you create things — fast.
The command palette
Press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows) from anywhere in the app to open the command palette. The same key toggles it closed again.
The palette does three things:
- Search across everything. Start typing and it searches your shows, releases, contacts, crew, gear, tasks, and merch all at once. Results appear grouped by type, and each one shows a little context — a city and date, a role, a category — so you can tell two similarly-named things apart. Pick one and you land straight on it.
- Jump to a page. The Navigate commands take you to Shows, Releases, Calendar, Contacts, Crew, Gear, Merch, Tasks, or Settings without clicking through the sidebar.
- Create something new. The Create commands spin up a new show, release, contact, crew member, task, gear item, or product from wherever you are. There's also a Sign out command tucked in Utility.
The command list is always there when you open the palette; the searched-across-everything results appear as soon as you type. Move with the up/down arrows, hit Enter to go, and Esc (or a click outside) to close.
The / shortcut on list pages
When you're already on a list — Shows, Contacts, Gear, and the rest — press / to drop your cursor straight into that page's search box. No clicking; just start typing to filter what's in front of you. It's the fast way to narrow a long list when you're staying put. (If your cursor is already in a text field, / types a normal slash, so you won't fire it by accident mid-sentence.)
A couple more, inside forms
Two extra keys help once you're editing something:
- Cmd+Enter / Ctrl+Enter saves or submits the form you're in, so you can finish without hunting for the button.
- Backspace, when you've got a row selected and no field focused, deletes it.
Habits worth building
- Reach for Cmd+K / Ctrl+K instead of the sidebar — it's almost always faster, and it creates as well as navigates.
- Use / when you're staying on the same page and just want to filter the list.
